ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – A local organization specializing in animal neglect activism and litigation has officially filed a lawsuit against the Rochester Police Department. The plaintiffs allege officers did not intervene during a case of alleged animal neglect.
Rochester resident Carey Burkhardt told News 8 she first noticed patterns of potential abuse at the home on Sherman Street two years ago. She alleges that multiple dogs were left outdoors in dangerous winter conditions.
“[The dogs] were just wailing and it was freezing cold,” Burkhardt said. “I thought they were dying, I hadn’t heard that noise before coming from a dog.”…
