FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WROC) – A church in Fairport will be hosting a “Blessing of the Books” on Sunday. The blessing will take place at 10 a.m. at Mount Rise United Church of Christ.
The congregation is invited to bring a book to worship to donate to the church’s new library. The books will be blessed during the worship.
Organizers say banned books have “a special vocation, a particular calling in our faith communities: to help expand and enliven the image of God and empower us to reckon with truths that demand our loving accountability.”…
