FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WROC) – Casa Larga in Fairport hosted the 31st New York Ice Wine & Culinary Festival on Saturday to celebrate award-winning ice wines in the state. The festival celebrates the art of traditional ice wine production with tastings, culinary pairings, and ice wine-inspired cuisine.
Those who attend will also enjoy shopping, wagon rides, and craft beverages with tastings from local breweries, cideries, and distilleries from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Organizers of the festival say, “ice wines are rare, risky, and costly to produce, and the festival showcases those crafted using the traditional German eiswein method.” For ice wines, grapes are naturally frozen on the vine, hand-picked, and pressed within hours of harvest.
