ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Nearly three weeks after 4-year-old Axel Hernandez was killed by his father during a murder-suicide in Greece, child rights advocates across New York State are voicing their concerns about a potential lack of protections for children in custody disputes.
Similar to Axel, 2-year-old Kyra Franchetti of Long Island was killed by her father in a murder-suicide in 2016. Since then, Kyra’s mother Jacqueline Franchetti has urged state lawmakers to pass legislation to prevent other children from being victimized.
