On Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Wednesday 5 a.m. until Thursday 1 a.m. for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Cayuga and Genesee counties.
The weather service comments, “Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of less than an inch. Freezing rain accumulations of a tenth to a quarter inch.”
“The wintry mix and freezing rain may result in very slick conditions on untreated surfaces. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes,” says the weather service. “Periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will result in slippery roads and limited visibilities. Slow down and use caution while driving.”
