Federal funding to help human trafficking victims in Rochester rebuild their lives

Nearly half a million dollars will be going to help give human trafficking victims a fresh start in Rochester.

Congressman Joe Morelle announced $477,000 in federal funding for Miss Julie’s School of Beauty. The school provides therapeutic cosmetology training and support services to give survivors a permanent path out of trafficking.

“If we meet those basic necessities, we can then think about job skills training, and then all of a sudden, you have a wonderful workforce where people can enter into the community, and they can be productive members of society,” said Julie Chapus, executive director of Miss Julie’s School of Beauty…
