ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Demonstrators gathered at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Federal Building for an “ANTI‑ICE Rally” calling on local, state, and federal leaders to take action against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
People carried signs and chanted slogans. They are pressing a three‑part set of demands: that all local elected officials cosponsor and advocate for a package of bills aimed at mitigating ICE activity. That includes NY for All, the MELT Act, Local Cops Local Crime and Dignity Not Detentions.
They are demanding that federal representatives push for bipartisan accountability on immigration enforcement, and that Rochester Mayor Malik Evans and the city manager coordinate city efforts to address ICE operations locally…
