Police Catch Walmart iPhone Thief in Upstate New York

Police have arrested a man after he allegedly impersonated a Walmart employee and walked away with over $50,000 worth of iPhones in Upstate New York.

32-year-old Anthony D. Capers of Rochester, NY has been arrested after police say he is responsible for stealing 60 iPhones valued at over $50,000 from the Walmart Supercenter located in Macedon, NY.

Man Impersonates Walmart Employee

Back in 2023, the Town of Macedon Police Department began investigating a massive iPhone theft that occurred at the Walmart Supercenter located at 425 State Route 31 in Macedon, NY. Police said that on February 2, 2023, Capers impersonated an Outsourced Sales Leader (OSL) employee and gained access to the store master keys and stole dozens of iPhones from the Walmart in Wayne County, NY.

Capers was seen on Walmart’s security camera footage using the keys to access a locked storage container where he then selected over 60 iPhones valued at $51,982 and left the store without paying for them…
