Rochester, N.Y. — A police officer is on medical leave after being hurt by a suspect who was resisting arrest Tuesday afternoon on the city’s north side, according to the Rochester Police Department.
Officers working a Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence (STRIVE) detail responded around 4:30 p.m. to a home on Treyer Street to arrest Oritsegbegbemi Nanna, 40, with an outstanding warrant for a domestic-related criminal contempt charge, police said.
Officers made contact with Nanna and explained they had a warrant for his arrest, according to police, but Nanna refused to follow orders to put his hands behind his back. Police then began using force to detain Nanna, who swung at officers and tried to bite them before he was taken into custody…
