RPD officer injured during violent arrest of suspect

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — During an attempt to arrest a man on Tuesday, an RPD officer was injured.

Police say, around 4:30 p.m., officers working a Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence detail responded to an address on Treyer Street to arrest 40-year-old Oritsegbegbemi Nanna. Nanna is said to have had an outstanding arrest warrant for domestic-related criminal contempt.

As officers tried to tell Nanna that he was under arrest, Nanna allegedly refused to put his hands behind his back, leading to officers using force. During this incident, RPD says Nanna swung at officers and tried to bite them. He was eventually taken into custody…
