Winter weather advisory issued for parts of upstate NY. See snow projections

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a winter weather advisory for several counties in upstate New York through 7 a.m. Thursday.

Wayne and Northern Cayuga counties

Snow will transition to localized lake effect snow tonight through early Thursday. Forecasters expect 2 to 5 inches of lake effect accumulation in the most persistent bands. Slippery road conditions are expected, especially during the Thursday morning commute. Cities impacted include Newark and Fair Haven.

Oswego and Lewis counties

The advisory remains in effect through 7 a.m. Thursday. Snow is expected through Wednesday, followed by localized lake effect snow tonight into early Thursday. An additional 2 to 4 inches of snow is possible Wednesday along the Tug Hill Plateau, with 2 to 5 inches of lake effect snow possible overnight in the most persistent bands.
