BRIGHTON, N.Y. — Starting this spring, Monroe Avenue will undergo significant changes as the Department of Transportation (DOT) begins work on repairing two overpasses in the area. This construction is part of a multi-phase revamp of the Monroe Avenue corridor.
News10NBC’s Erin Mahon reported live from the on-ramp to 590 North from Monroe Avenue, one of the bridges slated for repair. The DOT selected this bridge and another over Allen’s Creek for funding due to their poor condition.
Repairing the bridges is just phase one of a $55 million project. The town of Brighton said phase two will address the street itself. The DOT plans to reduce traffic from four lanes to three, with two travel lanes and one turn lane in the middle. The town supports this plan but wants to include bike lanes on the shoulders…
