NEXT THURSDAY (3/5/26) – Irondequoit Historical Society Presents Historian’s Choice

The Irondequoit Historical Society will welcome Irondequoit’s Town Historian, Tim Judd, as the speaker at their next presentation at the library on Thursday, March 5, at 7:00 PM.

The Historical Society is letting Tim play Historian’s Choice for his presentation topic and he has chosen to share a brief history of Irondequoit’s School District #3 (did you know there used to be even more school districts in our town?).

The earliest schoolhouse to serve School District #3 was built in 1840 out of logs. It stood on the southeast corner of Titus Avenue and Lower Hudson (now known as Cooper Road) on land donated by Stephen Titus. This log school was used until 1861, when it was replaced by a one-room brick building built on the opposite corner of Titus and Lower Hudson…
