Rush homes regain water after solar project drilling mishap

RUSH, N.Y. (WROC) – Homes in Meadowood in Rush now have water after a drilling mishap at the Horseshoe Solar Energy Project left three houses without supply for about a month.

Residents said crews at the project, located along the Monroe–Livingston County line, punctured an underground aquifer in February. Susan Swanton said she could feel vibrations in her home as a result, and the water pump in her basement dropped from its usual 55 psi to below 10 psi. Neighbor Robin Rapport said he first noticed the effects on his water within days, with pressure gradually weakening until there was barely any flow.

“Before today, it was just getting weaker, but now there’s basically no flow,” Rapport said at the time…
