Smart glasses raise new privacy, scam concerns: Lifespan expert warns

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — As smart glasses become cheaper, more stylish and harder to detect, local experts are warning the public to think twice about what they share, even in everyday settings like stores, gyms and restaurants.

Amanda Irons‑Rindfleisch, the scam‑prevention coordinator for Lifespan, says the wearable devices are “everywhere right now,” offering phone‑like recording and livestreaming capabilities that many people around them may never notice.

“Some early models had tiny lenses or indicator lights,” Irons‑Rindfleisch said. “But you really can’t rely on that anymore. These devices keep becoming more discreet.”
