ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The national average for gas prices has risen sharply, reaching $3.32 per gallon. This marks an increase of 34 cents in just one week, nationally, and Rochester is no exception.
As tensions escalate with missiles flying over Iran, the impact on oil prices is being felt at the pump. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for 20% of the world’s oil supply, is at the center of this issue. Iranian leaders have threatened to target tankers passing through.
“Oil prices are jumping and of course that’s leading consumers to see higher gas prices, higher diesel prices, higher jet fuel prices,” said petroleum expert Patrick De Haan. “That will be the status quo moving forward will be a bit of volatility along with higher prices.”…
