Brockport house fire quickly contained by crews amid freezing rain

BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WROC) — Fire crews responded to a house fire in Brockport on Thursday, quickly knocking it down.

On Thursday, March 5, emergency crews responded to a house fire on Havenwood Drive in Brockport around 9:55 p.m. Brockport police reported heavy smoke and an active fire in the living room. The homeowner was out and said no one else was in the home.

The call brought out over 30 Brockport Firefighters as well as crews from Hilton, Spencerport, and Hamlin. The extra crews were backup in case the fire was larger than expected, BFD said.

The extra backup wasn’t required, as one fire crew had water on the fire within five minutes of the call and knocked it down within five minutes of working on it. Another crew set up ladders in case ventilation would be needed…
