ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Issues at Monroe County DMVs continue to frustrate drivers. At 10 a.m. on Monday, people signing in at the downtown Rochester location were warned of wait times ranging from 7-8 ½ hours.
The Monroe County DMV put in place a new check-in system at local DMVs a few months ago. Then, the state rolled out an entirely new back-end system for all DMVs a few weeks ago. The combination of those two things seems to be causing a bit of chaos.
Jim Crowley, who visited the DMV on Monday for the second time in three weeks, shared his experience with News10NBC Investigative Reporter Jennifer Lewke. “When I came at the end of February, the wait time said it was going to be 8 hours, it ended up taking about 6 hours and then I received my new license over the weekend, and they left off my motorcycle license so, I called in this morning and they said I had to go back to my original place. I tried making an appointment, but the appointment system was down so, I just came and when I signed in, they said it was going to be an 8 ½ hour wait,” Crowley says…
