Western NY, Finger Lakes under a wind advisory Friday and Saturday

A wind advisory was released by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 1:59 p.m. valid from Friday noon until Saturday 8 a.m. for Monroe, Wayne, Cayuga, Livingston, Ontario, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.

The weather service describes, “Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 to 50 mph expected.”

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” describes the weather service. “Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.”
