Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — At the PGA Championship, held at Pittsford’s Oak Hill Country Club in May 2023, Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter said nine unauthorized drones were taken out of the sky – and Federal authorities charged one pilot with a felony.
“He was up there literally buzzing the Goodyear Blimp,” Baxter said. “…scaring the pilots. They called 9-1-1. They said ‘I don’t know what’s up here but we don’t like it. It’s not making us comfortable.’ And that person (the pilot) actually buzzed the tee box during the actual PGA Championship.”
