Wind brings trees and power lines down, thousands without power across region

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester region is cleaning up after strong winds brought down trees and power lines and blew objects onto the road.

News10NBC is tracking wind damage overnight and another round of strong winds starting Monday afternoon. Our crew saw downed power lines sparking a fire about 25 feet from a house on Morgan Road in Chili around 1:30 a.m. First responders put out that fire and RG&E cut the power.

An hour before that, there was a house fire on Ridge Road in Webster, with initial calls saying it was weather-related. The homeowner used a fire extinguisher before crews showed up.

Power outage numbers
