ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Humane Society of Greater Rochester is investigating a potential animal abuse case after a dog was found dead in a dumpster on the city’s west side. Calls about the incident came in around 11 a.m. on March 13. Humane Society officers arrived at Maryland Street to find the deceased dog and captured another dog that was running loose.
The Humane Society is currently working to determine if the two dogs have the same owner. Reno DiDomenico, vice president of the Humane Society, explained the organization’s approach to such cases.
“But some people just will dispose of their animals in their backyard,” DiDomenico said. “And of course, there are some people who will throw them out in the trash. Do I agree with it? No. But I can’t do anything about it. And if we do find usually what we do here, and we get a lot of these calls, is when we do find animals in the trash, we try to determine because of that, to make sure that there was no foul play involved.”…
