Court papers detail delivery driver’s alleged attack of man in Wayne County

Marion, N.Y. (WHAM) — A delivery driver is facing a felony charge following a roadside assault last month in Wayne County, according to newly obtained court documents that shed light on what led up to the incident.

Documents show the confrontation began when a driver, a 67-year-old man, stopped to speak with a delivery worker, identified as Joseph Lee Blair III, 32, of Rochester, whose van was blocking part of State Route 21 in Marion. In statements to police, the driver said he was concerned the vehicle could cause a crash.

Blair was charged with second-degree assault in connection with the incident, which left the driver with injuries including a broken ankle.

According to a supporting deposition, the victim told New York State Police he and his wife were traveling south on State Route 21 Feb. 7 around 5:45 p.m. when they spotted a white van parked in the southbound lane, facing the opposite direction…
