Here’s what you can borrow with a Monroe County Library card besides books and DVDs

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Do you have a Monroe County Library System (MCLS) card? If you do, did you know you can use your card for more than just borrowing books?

MCLS offers a program called “Very Important Places (V.I.P.) pass.” With this pass, people can get a discount for various places in Rochester and Monroe County.

If you have a valid MCLS library card, you can go to any participating library and check out a V.I.P. pass. Bring the pass to a participating locations for discounted admission or ticket purchases.

Locations participating in V.I.P. Pass Programs

Canandaigua Sailboards

  • Get 15% off hourly kayak and paddleboard rentals.

Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse

  • Buy one $5 admission ticket, get one free.

Corning Museum of Glass

  • One free adult museum admission. Kids and teens 17 and under can get in for free without the pass. 10% discount on memberships.

Finger Lakes Boating Museum

  • Good for Group Rate entry, which would be $8 per person.

Genesee Country Village and Museum

  • $3 off admission for up to four people.

George Eastman Museum

  • Buy one admission ticket ($22 for non-members) and get one of equal or less value for free.

Genesee Waterways Center

  • $5 off kayak rental for up to four people.

Geva Theatre

  • 50% off tickets in the first week of an eligible production. 25% off the remaining weeks. Good for shows such as “Always…Patsy Cline,” “The Play That Goes Wrong,” “Sancocho,” “The Woman In Black,” “Barefoot In the Park,” Furlough’s Paradice,” “Baron Vaughn: Cycle Breaker,” & “Anastasia.”
  • Passes cannot be used for opening nights, “A Christmas Carol,” and other holiday or special events. They also can’t be used for previous purchases.

Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum

  • Can get one free adult admission ticket.

The Little Theatre

  • Buy one ticket, get one free. Cannot be used for select special events and screenings.

Memorial Art Gallery

  • Free admission for two adults and any kids under 18. Pass cannot be used for surcharged exhibitions, Clothesline Festival, opening parties, MAGsocial, or other special events.

Mount Hope Cemetery Tours

  • One free adult admission to any general or theme tour. Cannot be used for special events such as “Voices from the Beyond,” and “We’ve Hauled Some Barges in Our Day.”

National Susan B. Anthony House

  • Two free admissions from March through December and four free admissions during January and February.

New York Museum of Transportation

  • Buy one admission, get one of equal or lesser value free. Limit one admission per visit.

Rochester Museum and Science Center

  • Buy one admission, get one of equal or lesser value free. Not available on school holiday, winter, spring, and February breaks.

Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra

  • Buy one, get one half off in zones 1-3 on Philharmonics, Pops, and Nutcracker concerts.

Seward House Museum

  • Buy one admission and get one of equal or lesser value free. Not valid on special ticketed events.

Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion

  • $3 discount on $16 (adult) admission for up to four people.
