New Asian fusion spot offers spicy Sichuan dishes and a surprisingly quiet vibe

Some of the most frequent questions I’m asked as a food reporter:

Manting House, a new Asian fusion restaurant, fits the bill for both.

It opened in late 2025 in the roomy building in Winton Place that’s been home to several restaurants, most recently Trio. The space has been given a bright, airy, modern look accented with plants and eye-catching lighting.

The menu focuses on Chinese food with an emphasis on spicy Sichuan dishes like dry pot and mala hot pot; familiar Chinese-American fare; and dim sum. Chef’s specials include whole fish preparations, lobster dishes, smoked duck and dishes with black truffle…
