Irondequoit residents weigh cost of new firehouse in upcoming vote

IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Residents in Irondequoit are facing a decision about the future of the St. Paul Boulevard Fire Department. They must choose whether to support the construction of a new, modern firehouse or continue using the current facility.

The existing firehouse, built in 1990, is seen by firefighters as outdated. A vote in December failed, but firefighters are advocating for another vote, promising more time and information for residents.

“We took the feedback from the residents,” said Chief Kenneth Stavalone of the St. Paul Boulevard Fire District. “A lot of that was just getting the information out for them and allowing them to better understand the project.”…
