ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — As the Rochester Police Department officer wounded in last week’s shooting remains at home recovering, News 8 is hearing more from fellow officers on how they are coping in the aftermath of one of their own being shot in the line of duty.
On Friday, March 20, on Lake Avenue and Driving Park, police say the officer got out to question a man about a recent shooting. The suspect is said to have opened fire and hit the officer in the leg. The man, later identified as Shatique Cato, fled the scene. Police say a drone spotted him behind a nearby building, then the suspect died by suicide.
The injured officer walked out of the hospital the next day, surrounded by men and women in blue…
