IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WROC) — For all the outcry over a stench that occasionally affects an Irondequoit neighborhood, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says it received just three complaints between September 2025 and March of this year.
In response to a News 8 inquiry, the DEC said it investigated all three complaints but reached a conclusion in only one case. In the other two, investigators did not detect the odor when they arrived on scene.
The one case that did lead to findings occurred in January. According to the DEC, a resident reported what was described as an “earthy beef odor.”…
