Two people arrested after deputies find 25 dogs in condemned home

PALMYRA, N.Y. — A man and woman from the Town of Palmyra were arrested following an animal cruelty investigation.

Deputies arrested Meghan E. Vitaro, 24, and Dominic S. Vitaro, 80, of North Creek Road in Palmyra for 25 counts each of Animal Cruelty – Failure to Provide Sustenance, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Over a period of about two years, the Vitaros allegedly deprived multiple dogs of necessary sustenance by confining them in an unsanitary environment.

Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a search warrant at Marbletown Road in Arcadia, the residence where the dogs were kept. Deputies found the entire interior of the residence saturated and covered in animal feces and urine…
