NY weather: part of New York under a flood watch Tuesday and Wednesday caused by excessive rainfall

The National Weather Service released a flood watch at 1:22 p.m. on Monday valid from Tuesday 8 a.m. until Wednesday 8 p.m. for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Cayuga, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.

The weather service informs, “Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.”

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” states the weather service. “You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.”
