Monroe County Clerk’s Office now charging subscription fee to access public records online

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — If you need documents from the Monroe County Clerk’s Office, you may now have to pay a subscription fee to access them.

The County Clerk’s Office houses millions of public records. Basic information on those records, including names and property addresses, will remain available for public search at no cost. However, starting this week, digital versions of the original documents will only be visible through a subscription service.

“A lot of civil court cases, some unsealed criminal cases, but then all of our land records particularly are just wide open to the public right now,” County Clerk Jamie Romeo explains…
