Police: Man threatened nurse, security with gun at Rochester General Hospital

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A 35-year-old man was arrested Friday after Rochester police said he threatened a nurse and multiple security staff members with a loaded handgun inside Rochester General Hospital.

Police said officers were called to the hospital just before noon for reports of a man with a gun. When they arrived, Rochester General Hospital security had already detained the suspect and recovered the firearm.

According to Rochester police, the man, identified as Gregory Strickland, 35, was visiting a patient on the hospital’s fourth floor when he became upset with a nurse and allegedly threatened her with a handgun.

Investigators said he then also threatened multiple members of hospital security, including a peace officer, before dropping the weapon. Security was then able to take him into custody without anyone being hurt…
