HCR honors patients, public health nursing pioneer for Nurses Week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — HCR Home Care marked National Nurses Week by honoring its patients and one of the pioneers of community nursing.

Staff held a ceremony Tuesday afternoon at Mount Hope Cemetery to recognize Lillian Wald, a Rochester-raised nurse and social reformer widely known for helping launch public health nursing.

Wald died in 1940 and is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery. HCR staff said they have worked to keep her gravesite maintained as a way to honor her legacy…
