Rock County fixes jail roof leaks, addresses two other projects

JANESVILLE – Rock County is working through a handful of unresolved projects at its new jail after workers capped off one emergency fix — a roof leak that officials say came after maintenance work in March, but didn’t start to manifest itself until after historic rainstorms in April.

The jail was a $96 million, 200,000 square-foot project approved in April 2024. Sheriff’s office staff moved into the building, which included new and remodeled spaces, in June 2024. Full occupancy took place in 2025.
