Let’s Help Put Rockford’s Sock Monkey Into LEGO History

Rockford, Illinois has given the world a lot of cool things over the years, Estwing hammers, Testors paints, Cheap Trick, but my favorite Rockford “thing” is the iconic sock monkey.

This adorable stuffed animal made out of red-heeled socks has been beloved by children for generations. It’s been celebrated with festivals and museums, and I will forever tell anyone who will listen that Rockford, Illinois is the Sock Monkey Capital of the World. So now it is time to prove it with one simple click.

Meet Harry the LEGO Sock Monkey

In 2022, a 21-year-old Lake In the Hills resident named Nathan Lilliebridge spent months designing and building the world’s first posable sock monkey made entirely out of LEGO bricks. Today, four years later, Nathan Lilliebridge needs our help to make his years of hard work and dreams come true.

Back in October, I begged Rockford residents to help Harry gain support on the LEGO Ideas platform, and while many of you answered the call, Harry’s journey isn’t over yet and time is running out.

As I write this, Harry still needs more than 7,000 additional supporters to reach the 10,000-vote milestone required for LEGO to officially review the project for production.

That’s not ok.

Vote for Harry the Sock Monkey

Think about it: a LEGO sock monkey inspired by Rockford’s most famous toy could end up on store shelves around the world. That’s super cool!
