Gov. Pritzker issues disaster proclamation for Winnebago, Stephenson counties affected by April storms

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Gov. JB Pritzker has issued a state disaster proclamation for 11 Illinois counties, including Winnebago and Stephenson counties, following months of severe weather that brought tornadoes, flooding, damaging winds and large hail to communities across the state.

The proclamation, announced Tuesday, covers counties impacted by storms between March and June and is intended to make additional state resources available to support recovery efforts. According to the governor’s office, Illinois has recorded approximately 173 tornadoes so far this year, the most of any state in the nation.
