ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Community members worked Saturday morning to restore the former Elliot Golf Course into a nature center and preserve on Rockford’s east side.
More than two dozen volunteers joined Wild Roots staff to clean up brush and clear invasive species from Prairie’s Edge.
Wild Roots Nature Center has worked for the past two years to restore the property. The organization plans to reintroduce native plants and wildflowers and renovate the former golf clubhouse.
