ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A proposed advisory question about voter identification and proof of citizenship could appear before Winnebago County voters in November 2026, as debate continues nationally and locally over election security and voter access.
The proposed question would ask voters: “Should the Illinois General Assembly pass legislation that would require voters to show a valid form of government-issued photo identification to prove United States citizenship before being allowed to vote?”
