Rockford man found guilty of attempted murder in Ferguson Street shooting that injured 2

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Winnebago County jury has found a Rockford man guilty of attempting to kill two people during a November 2025 shooting that prosecutors said stemmed from a long-running dispute between two young relatives.

Hector L. Aguayo Jr., 40, was convicted after a two-day jury trial of two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of conspiracy, Winnebago County State’s Attorney J. Hanley announced.

Jurors also found prosecutors proved that Aguayo was armed with a firearm during the offenses, making him eligible for a sentencing enhancement…
