Microsoft’s data center plans are back before Cherry Valley two years later

CHERRY VALLEY — A Microsoft data center plan that’s been in the works for more than two years is back before village officials as the technology giant asks to renew its expired special-use permit.

The company previously won village approval in late 2024 of a plan to construct six one-story data center buildings and two substations on more than 300 acres of land southwest of U.S. Route 20 and Wheeler Road in Boone County.
