ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Animal Services began its “Empty the Shelter” adoption event Friday to address a high cat population, which reached more than 125 animals in the building as of Thursday afternoon.
To encourage adoptions and reduce capacity, the shelter discounted adoption fees for cats during the promotion. Adoption fees are set at $5 for adult cats and $30 for kittens.
All adoptable pets included in the promotion come spayed or neutered. The animals also receive required vaccines and microchipping as part of the adoption package…
