ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The historic Otis Eddy House on North Main Street is one step closer to preservation after the Rockford City Council unanimously approved landmark designation for the property Monday night.
The designation applies to the property adjacent to the former Village Green, at 2520 N. Main St., known as the Otis Eddy House. Council members approved the landmark designation by voice vote after a brief discussion.
The designation comes as city officials continue reviewing a separate proposal from Otis Estate LLC to transform the building into a single-room occupancy development featuring 20 bedrooms with shared living, kitchen, and common areas.
