ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A historical feature has returned to Sinnissippi Golf Course, where maintenance workers have restored the ground lettering spelling out “ROCKFORD” along the fairway.
The Rockford Park District shared video footage showing its maintenance team filling each individual letter with stone. The landmark layout was originally installed in the 1930s to serve as an aerial marker for passing airplanes.
Passersby and motorists traveling along Parkview Avenue can now see the restored stone layout directly on the course fairways…
