Police: Drug-addled driver crashes after high speed pursuit in Ogle County

OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — A man allegedly high on drugs was arrested early Tuesday morning in Ogle County after engaging in a high-speed pursuit with deputies that ended in a crash.

According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Morgan Giles, 21, of Dixon, sped away from deputies during an attempted traffic stop at 3:19 a.m. in the 7000 block of N. Mulford Road in Monroe Center.

Authorities said Giles piloted his Toyota Camry at a high rate of speed into Winnebago County and then back into Ogle County, where he crashed near the intersection of N. Perryville Road and E. Crill Road, driving through a “T” intersection and crashing into the ditch embankment head-on.

Giles was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, aggravated DUI with no insurance, aggravated fleeing to elude, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (Xanax), possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple other moving violations…
