New nonprofit shows off its plans for creating Rockford senior center in old bank space

ROCKFORD — The Living Well Center of Northern Illinois showed off its vision on Thursday for overhauling a former bank into a hub of activity and socialization for older adults.

The new nonprofit, which formed in spring, is renovating the former Fifth Third Bank space on the ground floor of 1111 S. Alpine Road for its future senior center. The design of the facility was handled by 1919 Architects, which is gathering bids for construction now. The goal is for the new senior center to open by February, according to Dr. Carlos Aguero, a physician at Oak Street Health who is president of the Living Well Center’s board…
