ROCKFORD — Rockford Hero Rumble on Tuesday unveiled the lineup of firefighters, police officers and first responders who will compete in the second annual fundraising fight.
The USA Boxing-sanctioned event will feature five bouts that pit police against firefighters for bragging rights and a traveling trophy to the winning side. There are two additional showcase matchups in which Rockford police officers face off against Winnebago County sheriff’s deputies. The undercard will also include amateur bouts with USA Boxing competitors.
“It takes a lot of guts and courage for each of these men and women to come in and do what they got to do day-in and day-out on their job,” said Jimmy Goodman, director of Rockford Boxing Club. “It takes just as much courage when they take it and put it in the ring.”…
