FIRST ALERT: Winter storm to impact Tuesday morning commute

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – It’s seemingly been one blow after another from Mother Nature over the past two weeks or so, and yet another punch is incoming. A storm system is coming together to our southwest Monday evening, and will present a messy situation for the Rockford region overnight into early Tuesday. The current thinking remains that a period of freezing rain is likely, with an eventual mix with rain, sleet, and snow to follow. Current modeling suggests that precipitation is to arrive in the form of freezing rain around or shortly after midnight.
