South Beloit cuts ribbon on newest business

SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. (WTVO) — South Beloit cut the ribbon on it’s newest business Tuesday.

Kwik Star opened on Friday and held a grand opening celebration on Tuesday. The gas station and convenience store is on Oakfield Parkway just off Interstate 39 and Illinois Route 75.

More than 90 jobs have already been created. Kwik Star is the Illinois version of Kwik Trip, which is found in Wisconsin.

The company’s CEO says he hopes the new location brings some excitement to the area.

“The way we look at it, others benefit from that as well. And so, any time you have a new business, it does create some competition, but we believe competition is good,” said Kwik Star CEO Scott Zietlow. “We think it makes everybody better. And it will draw other types of businesses in this area as well, which is good.”

The shop will also add video gaming in the spring.
