Two closed Rockford bars could see new life, as daiquiri jazz bar and bar-laundromat combo

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Two shuttered bars in Rockford could soon reopen as new venues.

The old Kryptonite, at downtown’s Stewart Square at the corner of W. State and South Main, is expected to open as Sheila’s Daiquiri Lounge.

The new venue will open as a jazz and blues music bar.

The owners of Latham Tap are looking to open a third location, opening Latham Tap East in the former Fatty McGee’s on E. State Street, near Rockford Univeristy.

While the owner plans to use the same business model as the other locations, this would also have a laundromat inside.

Plans for both restaurants were approved by the Liquor and Tobacco Advisory Board.
