ROCKFORD Ill. (WTVO) — A group of three teachers who go by the name of Cave People from Space won their fourth first place state trophy.
Kyle Wolfe, Brian Hierstein and Kelly Madison have won first place every year they have been eligible for the competition.
“It was an amazing showing of art. I don’t think any of us knew any of the winners,” Hierstein said. “Anyone could have won any award. They were all so good.”
Hierstein went on to say that he was not sure that the group would even place based on the strong competition this year.
The upper 30-degree temperatures and rain made the competition even more of a challenge. Some of the sculptures even collapsed soon after awards were announced.
